Discourse is the starting point of all moral discussions
- Discourse precedes morality—the way we frame policies or moral questions expresses our unconscious, which is the basis for morality. Rockridge Institute 07

Discourse shapes reality – discourse inescapably shapes human behavior, which means the K turns the AC on a post-fiat level. I contend that the a priori arguments and theory spikes in the AC pre-empt protest and open debate. By defining what is allowed to be said in opposition to the aff before the neg even speaks, the aff harms the open political discourse essential for the preservation of democracy. Therefore with the spikes, the aff lacks solvency, cannot access their impacts, and triggers harms to both debate and democracy. Therefore I advocate a negative ballot to defeat the logic of preemption in the AC.
The Aff practice of saying that we can’t debate to protest in a certain way mirrors the trend of spatially segregating dissent into “free speech cages”. Thus dissent and protest are contained and regulated. The logic of preemption cannot be contained within debate because it infiltrates boundaries and permeates the public sphere.
