What they fail to realize is that the narrative of linear time is a tool used by the state and dominant powers to placate revolution and reinforce the idea that structural violence can be changed by appeals to legislation. The portrayal of the future as something amazing and better that we are constantly working toward is used by structures to rewrite history and over look past oppression, even though oppression exists cyclically and re-interprets itself in new ways.
